Throwin' Up Your Sign

This past Saturday night, three classrooms burned down including the special ed room. I heard from the rumor mill that it was a gang-related arson.

I HATE MY HIGH SCHOOL BECAUSE FOR A RELATIVELY NICE SUBURBAN TOWN, IT IS RIDDLED WITH GANGSTERS THAT MAKE ME FEEL UNCOMFORTABLE AT SCHOOL.

I wore my uber comfortable rose-printed scarf on Monday, and was asked by school administration to take it off. I understand that wearing gang colors (red vs. blue at our area) is unsafe, but srsly?! I was wearing oxfords, a ruffle grey dress, and a dark grey drapey cardigan. Did I look like a gang member? Obviously.

The next day when I had completely forgotten that I was a gangster, I wore my new blazer and thought I looked hella good. I started feeling uncomfortable even before lunch, so I took it off and stuffed it in my locker ):

Black shirt: Gap; Grey tube dress (folded to be a skirt): Hollister; Velvet beaded belt: mom's closet; Red blazer: Marshall's
I just wish that school could be a safe environment where what color I wear determines how safe I am. I rather just worry about how other catty girls think of my clothes and not whether I'm going to be shoved in the halls or even possibly shot. Last year, there was a gang-related shooting at the doughnut shop across the street from my school DURING LUNCH when high school students were inside buying food! RIDICULOUS.

In other news, I thrifted a skirt last week and I'm going again, with a friend, tomorrow!

Tank: Gap; Skirt: thrifted; Necklace: MAC Cosmetics

that's scary and frustrating that a school can dictate what you can wear :(.

i remember in high school we weren't allowed to wear scarves either.. not cool

Some people say that the more expensive the area around the school is, the more people do bad stuff...

I honestly hope that's not true.

But really nice outfit.

that gap tank is really cute.
my school is also stingy about wearing "gang" colors. the senior color was red, but it changed to blue during my senior year.

Really, really, really love both outfits, especially the first. I would perish at the thought of no scarves in certain colours though. That is ridiculous that it comes to that.... I would not survive without my headscarves, ahah.
